30 Super boats to race in the 13th Deloitte JJ Memorial Cup at Mumbai Harbour on 29th & 30th March 2014.

In excess of 225 sailors in boats of different classes will be seen in action over two days in the largest sailing event in the country, the 13th Deloitte J J Memorial Cup, co-sponsored by Enerzal, which will be hosted and organized by the Royal Bombay Yacht Club and the Bombay Sailing Association in the Bombay Harbour and Mandwa on March 29 and 30, 2014.
 
Prominent among the sailors will be Arjuna Awardees and the country’s most decorated sailors, Capt. Homi Motivala, Cdr. Mahesh Ramachandran, Commodore Surinder Mongia and his sons Nitin and Aashim Mongia.
 
There will be Super Yacht Harbour Race at 3.00 pm on 29th followed by a race to Mandva Jetty thereafter and a return race on 39th afternoon and the winner across all three races will be awarded the Deloitte-JJ Memorial Trophy. Thirty Big Yachts, ranging from the newly launched 22 foot JJ to the 54 foot Sun Odyssey and the Mumbai Harbour classes, namely the Seabird and the Lightening will compete in this spectacular race.

 
 

There will also be races for juniors in the Optimist / Topper Class and races in the Seabird / Lightning Classes. The local hosts have associated with the Yacht Club of Hyderabad which has pioneered the cause of socially responsible sailing in Hyderabad and one of their young sailors at their program, a son of a single housemaid, has been included in the Asian Games core probable coaching program.

 
“Big boat racing in Mumbai Harbour has reached an inflection point and I can only see it grow to heights from here. I have sailed in many parts of the world and apart from a Marina, Mumbai has everything it needs to make it a spectacular international sporting destination for sailing,” said Capt.
